Calvin Ruan (roo-AHN) is the energetic entrepreneur and visionary behind Hauslane, the world’s friendliest range hood company that has been transforming the century-old kitchen ventilation category with an easy, fun and informative purchase process. As Co-Founder and CEO, his leadership has led to explosive growth for the company, which delivers premium kitchen ventilation hoods throughout North America and focuses on improving the cooking experience for home chefs through product design, customer service and education.
From its establishment in 2018 to the end of the 2021 calendar year, Hauslane posted 13x sales growth and has quickly evolved into a ten-figure business. Logistically, the brand has expanded its distribution and fulfillment capacity as well, from a single hub in California in 2018 to more than half a dozen facilities throughout the United States and Canada. Its high quality, top-rated products are sold on all major online retailer websites, including Amazon, Lowes.com, HomeDepot.com, Wayfair and more.
In just four short years, under Calvin's leadership, Hauslane has made the San Francisco Business Times’ Largest BIPOC-Owned Business List in the Bay Area in 2022, was a winner of the Fast 50 Asian American Business Award by the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce and was named a Newsweek Best Home and Gardens Brand. Calvin has provided expertise on indoor air quality to widely read trade magazines such as Kitchen & Bath Business.
Prior to launching Hauslane, Ruan was a senior partner at a large private real estate investment company located in San Francisco, California. During his nine-year tenure, he oversaw the acquisition of 1,034 units, valued at more than $213 million collectively, as well as the sale of 2,201 units, collectively valued at more than $318 million. In addition to these real estate investment activities, he also spearheaded a number of property renovations valued at $14 million.
At home, Ruan enjoys cooking and spending time with family. His passion for cuisine is what drives Hauslane’s team to deliver on the promise of offering better kitchen ventilation and empowering people to cook with confidence.
